Fixed electric centrifuge
Centrifugal dewatering as a fixed station, for units with a stable electricity supply.
What this machine does
This centrifuge applies the same solid-liquid separation principle as the mobile version, but in a fixed configuration integrated into a production line. Electric drive brings three advantages in continuous operation: a stable, repeatable rotational speed from one cycle to the next, an operating cost per tonne well below that of a thermal engine, and no exhaust gases in a food processing room.
On an attiéké or semolina line it occupies the pivotal position between grating and cake breaking. Its capacity must be calculated in keeping with the upstream and downstream stations: an undersized centrifuge forces grated pulp to wait, with uncontrolled fermentation beginning and an acidification that changes the final product; oversized, it runs part loaded, which degrades its energy efficiency without any benefit.

The parts that do the work
Stainless steel basket
Perforated drum on a vertical shaft, dynamically balanced, with suspension absorbing residual loading imbalance.
Collecting bowl
Stainless enclosure gathering expelled water and directing it to drainage or to the starch recovery tank.
Electric drive
Three-phase motor, belt transmission, soft start limiting inrush current and shaft stress.
Braking and interlock
Mechanical brake and lid interlock preventing opening while the basket turns.
Technical data and configurations
| Characteristic | Indicative value |
|---|---|
| Batch capacity | 60 to 250 kg of pulp |
| Cycle time | 5 to 15 min |
| Installed power | 3 to 11 kW |
| Power supply | Three-phase 380 V — 50 Hz |
| Moisture at outlet | 48 to 55 % wet basis (indicative) |
| Basket | perforated AISI 304 stainless steel |
| Fixing | on an anchored concrete block |
| Safety | lid interlock and brake |
These are usual design ranges for this type of machine, intended to guide early thinking. The contractual characteristics of the equipment actually manufactured — throughputs measured at acceptance, absorbed power, real footprint and weight — are established by the SOTIC design office and stated in the technical offer.
Available configurations
- Several basket diameters according to line cadence.
- Variable frequency drive for a controlled speed ramp and fine adjustment.
- Juice outlet to starch recovery or to effluent treatment.
Installation requirements
- Sized concrete block: the machine transmits alternating forces that a plain floor slab does not properly absorb.
- Careful levelling, checked with a precision level before final anchoring.
- Juice drainage with continuous fall to the collection point, with no counter-slope.
- Electrical protection and earthing in keeping with the installed power.
Maintenance and safety at the workstation
A machine lasts as long as its maintenance does. The points below appear in the preventive maintenance plan handed over at acceptance and are covered during operator training.
Preventive maintenance
- Weekly check of balance and of the condition of the anti-vibration mounts.
- Check the brake and the interlock at every shift handover.
- Full cleaning of basket and bowl after each production day.
- Belt inspection, replaced as a complete set, never one belt at a time.
Safety
- Opening is impossible while the basket is turning: never defeat this interlock.
- Load the pulp symmetrically in the basket.
- Electrical isolation before any maintenance work.
Before ordering this machine
Sizing is based on installed power and on starting inrush, which can be several times the rated current if no soft start is fitted. On a weak grid or on a generator set, a soft starter or variable frequency drive is not a comfort but a necessity: it avoids the voltage dips that disturb the rest of the workshop.
Real cadence depends not only on spinning time but on loading and unloading, which are manual. On a ten-minute cycle, handling has to be added: it is this complete cadence, not the spinning time, that must be used to calculate the line's hourly throughput.
