Soap cutting table
Cuts the soap bar into calibrated, regular-weight billets.
What this machine does
The cutting table turns the continuous bar leaving the plodder into billets of constant length. The principle is simple — a frame of wires or blades cutting the bar at regular intervals — but the requirement is real: this is where the unit weight of the soap sold is fixed. Irregular cutting produces soaps of different weights, a direct commercial problem when the product is sold by the unit with a stated weight.
Regularity depends on two factors: the constancy of the bar section, therefore the plodder setting, and the precision of the spacing of the cutting members. A check-weighing station at the outlet, however basic, makes it possible to detect drift before it affects a whole production run. Cutting offcuts are not lost: they return to the start of the cycle to be reincorporated into the paste.

The parts that do the work
Cutting frame
Wires or blades at adjustable spacing defining billet length.
Receiving surface
Smooth, non-stick surface receiving the bar without deforming it.
Side guides
Keep the bar aligned for a regular, square cut.
Offcut collection
Gathers ends and rejects for reincorporation upstream.
Technical data and configurations
| Characteristic | Indicative value |
|---|---|
| Cutting length | adjustable to the commercial format |
| Operation | manual or assisted depending on model |
| Product contact materials | stainless or treated steel |
| Work surface | ergonomic height |
| Cutting members | replaceable wires or blades |
| Cadence | according to station organisation |
| Structure | frame resistant to the alkaline environment |
| Checking | check-weighing station recommended at the outlet |
These are usual design ranges for this type of machine, intended to guide early thinking. The contractual characteristics of the equipment actually manufactured — throughputs measured at acceptance, absorbed power, real footprint and weight — are established by the SOTIC design office and stated in the technical offer.
Available configurations
- Manual or assisted cutting according to the cadence of the soap works.
- Several cutting spacings according to the formats marketed.
- Stand-alone table or integrated in line with the plodder and the stamper.
Installation requirements
- Sited directly at the plodder outlet, at a compatible height.
- Washable, non-slip floor: soap residues make floors very slippery.
- Sufficient lighting for visual checking of the billets.
- Offcut collection area accessible without crossing flows.
Maintenance and safety at the workstation
A machine lasts as long as its maintenance does. The points below appear in the preventive maintenance plan handed over at acceptance and are covered during operator training.
Preventive maintenance
- Replace wires or sharpen blades as soon as the cut starts to fray.
- Clean the work surface at the end of the shift.
- Check the spacing of the cutting members and their squareness.
- Check frame stability and fastener tightness.
Safety
- Sharp cutting members: handle with care even when stopped.
- Protective gloves when replacing wires or blades.
- Clean up splashes on the floor immediately to prevent falls.
Before ordering this machine
By acting on the two causes of spread: the constancy of the bar section, which depends on the setting and condition of the plodder die, and the precision of the cutting spacing. A check-weighing station at the outlet, sampled regularly, detects drift quickly. Without that check, drift only appears when the customer complains.
They are reincorporated upstream of the cycle and pass through the plodder again. There is therefore no material loss, provided collection is organised and clean: offcuts picked up from the floor or contaminated must not go back into the paste.
